Course Description

We write for many reasons. Some of us write for an audience. Some, for ourselves. Some of us write to heal, others, to create beauty. Others write for still other reasons. I personally write for all of these reasons. What calls you to writing? And what has kept you from it? What scares you? You know you have a story, an essay, or even a book in you. Maybe it’s for publication, maybe it’s for your family. Or maybe it’s just for you and nobody else. Guess what? You’ve come to the right place to get started or re-acquainted with this important part of yourself. This is the class that will get you writing in the way you know you were meant to. In these sessions, we'll do three things carefully and intentionally: reading, listening, and writing. Come with an open mind, an open heart, and a brand-new notebook and pen or a computer. In this class we’ll read but not study, we’ll share but not workshop, and we will generate, generate, generate words and ideas. We will read some of the greats of creative nonfiction, craft, and process like Anne Lamott, Vivian Gornick, Melissa Febos, CJ Hauser, Matthew Salesses, David Mura and others about what they say about how to do it, when do to it, why to do it, and how to keep going in a way that works for you—no matter what. Payment by Venmo, Zelle, or PayPal. Deposit to save your spot of $150 by Venmo and then contact me for payment plan or aid if needed.
