FAQs and Policies
Q: How do I register and pay for a class? A: Click the class title on my Classes page and register through the link, but pay me via Zelle to thewriteaimee@gmail.com or Venmo to @Aimee-Christian. A non-refundable deposit of $150 holds your seat; full tuition is due before the first class unless we arrange a payment plan.
Q: Do you offer payment plans or discounts? A: Yes—limited payment plans and a small number of financial aid opportunities, especially if you are an emerging writer of color or you are disabled. Please email me before registering if cost is a barrier and we will work something out.
Q: What’s the class size and level? A: Most classes are a minimum of four and a maximum of 8–10 students. Unless noted, classes are open to motivated memoirists and creative nonfiction writers at any level; some sections are Intermediate/Advanced--if you think you are ready for that then you are!
Q: What’s your cancellation/refund policy (before class starts)? A: $150 deposit is non-refundable. 14+ days: 100% refund (–$50) or 100% credit (12 months). 7–13 days: 50% refund or 100% credit. Under 7 days: no cash refund; credit only if I fill your seat (12 months).
Q: What happens after the course begins? A: Once the first class meets, tuition is non-refundable. If you withdraw in Week 1 and I can fill your seat by Week 2, I’ll issue credit for unused sessions (no cash), valid 12 months.
Q: Are refunds automatic if I change my mind? A: No. After the first class, tuition is non-refundable; limited credit may apply only if I fill your seat.
Q: How are refunds processed? A: To the original payment method; banks/processors can take 5–10 business days. The $50 admin fee applies to cash refunds only, not to credits.
Q: Can I transfer to a future session? A: One transfer within 12 months is allowed if requested before Week 2 and if space allows. Credits are for the original registrant and are not transferable.
Q: What if I miss a class? A: Missed classes aren’t refundable. I do not record classes for privacy purposes. I share the assignments and my slide decks and readings after every class.
Q: Can I join after the course starts? A: Yes, through Week 1 if there’s space; otherwise, please join the next run.
Q: What about accessibility and accommodations? A: Absolutely. I’m trauma-aware and disability-informed. Please email me at least 72 hours before class to set up captions, pacing adjustments, or content warnings, and other accommodations. I prefer that people keep cameras on where possible but if you need to turn yours off for greater accessibility, that is absolutely okay.
Q: Are classes recorded? A: No. I do not record classes. To protect privacy and foster candid and trusting discussion, sessions are live-only.
Q: How much reading/work is expected? A: There is always homework. In more generative classes, you can expect 1 - 2 writing assignments per week. In more workshop oriented classes, there is at least ~10–15 pages of peer work per week (varies by class, for example the Advanced Workshop has ~50 pages/week) and brief written feedback. I also offer readings that are current personal essays, craft essays, and excerpts from memoirs.
Q: Do you offer one‑on‑one coaching? A: Yes. I have a number of private students and would love to add you to the ranks! See my coaching page or ask for current availability and rates; I reserve a few slots each month.
